The pressure was on. My 10 page lab paper was due the next day and there I was with only an outline, not even one page finished.
But I thrived under that pressure…with a looming due date.
I was unstoppable.
I sat on my tiny dorm bed with my laptop on my lap and I powered through that paper. I think it actually only took me an hour or two - which is funny considering the level of stress I’d allowed this paper to create for me.
And when I was done? Yep, I was free to do as I pleased and my heartbeat was back down to it’s steady rhythmic beat.
Did I learn anything from this experience?
I’d love to say, “Yes! It was life changing! I never procrastinated again!”
But we all know that it’s a really hard habit to break.
So I carried this into my business too.
Oh gosh I can’t tell you how long it took me to finish my sales funnel 😬, those months I went with no new blog posts, my social media feeds that laid barren for months as well.
The difference between procrastination in school and in business is BIG but often overlooked…the looming due date!
In business there is no one telling you tasks have to be done at a certain time (except for client agreements of course).
This leads to perpetual procrastination with no end in sight!
Let me ask you a question…and your answer may depend on how woo woo you fall on the spectrum.
Do you think money will be attracted to you if you procrastinate on sending your content and personality out into the world?
But like I said, I’m so guilty of this myself. I catch myself doing this shit every week. But do you know what I do?
I give myself a little pep talk and remember that progress is better than perfection and ANY action toward the goal is better than no action.
So my dear, this week is there anything in your business you’ve had on your to do list for over a month that you just can’t seem to finish?
Is the finished project still something that’s in alignment with you and your business?
What is stopping you?
And what would it take for you to push even a portion of that thing out into the world THIS WEEK!
Would it take 3-4 hours each day of devoted work? What’s stopping you? Go for it!
Be the Head Bitch In Charge and take responsibility for getting this thing off your to do list and out of your stress creation zone!
Free yourself…of the anxiety…to be done for once….and to start attracting money.
Once people see you and the amazing value you provide with the world, they’re going to fall in love with you and then it’s only a matter of time before money starts coming your way.
But that stress and procrastination shit will repel that money right out the door! So get over it already, get over your bullshit excuses why you can’t finish and just fucking do it!
